Description: This piece is from Barbara Trentalange’s “Microscopic” series. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her father was diagnosed with Leukemia. It struck her that there is a world that runs the way we live our lives, that the un-aided eye cannot see. Trentalange took to studying microscopic structures and recreated the beauty in them as abstract works of art.

Layers of pigments and encaustic wax medium fused together to make this composition. Grooves are etched in the encaustic medium and filled with pigmented oil sticks.
